PEO Atlas
Get matched with the right PEO — free
Tell us your headcount, state, and what you need help with. PEO Atlas is a free matching service that helps you compare vetted PEO and HR outsourcing providers — you stay in control and choose.
What this service does
PEO Atlas is a free matching service. We are not a PEO, payroll company, HR department, insurance broker, tax firm, or law firm, and we do not do HR work for your business.
Our job is simple: we learn the basics about your company and what kind of help you need, then connect you with PEO or HR outsourcing providers that may fit. You compare options, ask questions, review the contract, and decide whether to move forward.
This is meant for busy owners who want help with the employer back office: payroll, employee benefits, HR admin, workers' comp, hiring support, and compliance support. You can read more about the full stack on our services page.
How matching works
You share a few business details: your business name, headcount, state, contact information, and what you need help with. That is enough to start a useful conversation.
We do not ask for sensitive items like your EIN, bank account numbers, employee Social Security numbers, full employee roster, income details, or health records.
After that, you can be matched with providers that serve businesses like yours. Each provider may explain its setup, services, pricing model, and next steps. You can see a fuller overview on how it works.

What a PEO is — and what co-employment means
A PEO, or Professional Employer Organization, can bundle employer back-office services into one system. That often includes payroll processing, payroll tax administration, benefits access, HR support, compliance support, and workers' comp administration.
Many PEOs work through co-employment. In plain English, that means the PEO becomes a co-employer for certain payroll, tax, and benefits purposes, while your business remains the day-to-day employer.
You still control your company. You keep control over hiring, firing, pay rates, schedules, job duties, performance management, and daily supervision. The PEO helps handle parts of the admin stack, but it does not take over your business.
What it may cost
PEO pricing usually falls into one of two common models: a flat per-employee-per-month fee or a percentage of payroll. A rough general range is about $40-$160 per employee per month, or roughly 2%-12% of payroll.
Those ranges are not quotes. The real number depends on your headcount, your state, your industry, claims history, the services you choose, and whether benefits are included.
Some businesses want full-service support. Others only need payroll, compliance help, or better benefits administration. That is why it helps to compare options carefully. For a plain-language breakdown, visit costs.
What to look for before you sign
Not every offer is structured the same way. Read the full contract before signing, especially the fees, contract term, renewal rules, and exit terms.
Watch for common red flags: vague or bundled pricing, long lock-in periods, hidden setup fees, hidden cancellation or exit charges, pressure to sign quickly, or no clear accreditation. It is reasonable to ask whether a provider is an IRS-Certified PEO or has ESAC accreditation.
This page is general information only, not legal, tax, insurance, benefits, or HR advice. Rules and requirements vary by state, so for decisions about your situation, speak with the provider directly and, when needed, your accountant or attorney.
- Ask for all fees in writing
- Check term, renewal, and exit language
- Confirm what services are actually included

Common questions
Is PEO Atlas free for my business?
Yes. The service is free for businesses using it. We help you get matched with participating providers so you can compare and choose.
Do I have to use a PEO?
No. You are not required to sign with any provider. The point is to compare options and decide what fits your business.
Will I lose control of my employees if I use a PEO?
No. In a co-employment setup, the PEO may handle certain payroll, tax, and benefits functions, but you still run your business and manage your employees day to day.
What information do I need to share to get matched?
Usually just basic business and need details: your business name, headcount, state, contact information, and what you want help with. You should not need to provide sensitive items like SSNs, bank account numbers, or health records to start.
Can you tell me exactly what a provider will charge?
No. We can share general cost ranges, but actual pricing depends on your headcount, state, services selected, and other factors. Final pricing comes from the provider, not from PEO Atlas.
