PEO Atlas
Terms of use
These terms explain the basic rules for using PEO Atlas. We are a free matching service for US businesses, not a PEO, payroll company, insurance broker, or law firm.
What PEO Atlas does
PEO Atlas helps small and growing businesses across the United States get matched with PEO and HR outsourcing providers. Our service is free for the business using it.
We are not a PEO, HR department, payroll processor, benefits administrator, insurance provider, tax advisor, or law firm. We do not perform HR work, run payroll, sponsor your benefits, or give professional advice.
The information on this site is general information only. It is meant to help you understand your options and ask better questions. Rules, taxes, benefits, and employment requirements vary by state, so you should review important decisions with a licensed PEO, accountant, insurance professional, or attorney.
Using this website
By using PEO Atlas, you agree to use the site for lawful business purposes and to provide accurate basic business information when you contact us or request a match.
We only need business and need details to help with matching, such as your business name, contact information, state, headcount, and what kind of help you are looking for. We do not ask for sensitive items like EINs, bank account numbers, employee Social Security numbers, full employee rosters, income details, or health records.
You should not rely on this website as a substitute for legal, tax, HR, insurance, or benefits advice. If you need advice for your specific situation, talk to a qualified professional in your state.
How matching works
If you share your information with us, we may use it to help identify one or more participating providers that may fit your business based on factors like location, company size, and the services you say you need.
A match is not a recommendation, endorsement, certification, or guarantee that a provider is the best fit for your business. You stay in control of the process. You decide whether to speak with a provider, what questions to ask, whether to request pricing, and whether to sign any agreement.
Provider availability, service area, pricing model, onboarding rules, and state-specific requirements can change. We cannot promise that a provider will accept your business, offer a specific service, or deliver a specific result.
No quotes, no guarantees, and no professional advice
Any pricing information on PEO Atlas is general educational information, not a quote. For example, PEO pricing is often discussed as a per-employee-per-month range of roughly $40-$160 per employee per month, or sometimes as a percentage of payroll, roughly 2%-12%. The real number depends on headcount, payroll size, industry, claims history, the services selected, and the state.
We do not promise savings, a benefits rate, a provider approval, or any business outcome. Actual costs and terms come from the provider, not from PEO Atlas.
Before you make a decision, review the full contract carefully. Pay attention to fees, term length, renewal terms, service scope, setup charges, and exit terms. Watch for red flags like vague bundled fees, long lock-in periods, hidden exit charges, missing accreditation, or pressure to sign quickly. Many businesses also look for IRS-Certified PEO status or ESAC accreditation.
Important note about co-employment
If you choose to work with a PEO, the arrangement is commonly called co-employment. In plain English, that usually means the PEO becomes a co-employer for certain payroll, tax, benefits, and HR administration purposes.
Your business still keeps control of the company. You keep control over hiring, firing, pay rates, schedules, job duties, and day-to-day management of your employees.
Because PEO services and contracts differ, you should ask each provider to explain exactly how its co-employment model works in your state and what responsibilities stay with your business.

Common questions
Does PEO Atlas charge my business to use the service?
No. PEO Atlas is free for the business. We are a matching service, not the provider you would hire.
Are you giving legal, tax, HR, or insurance advice on this site?
No. The content on PEO Atlas is general information only. For advice about your specific business, talk to a licensed PEO, accountant, insurance professional, or attorney, because rules vary by state.
What information do I need to share to get matched?
Usually just basic business and need details, such as your business name, contact information, state, headcount, and the help you want. We do not ask for EINs, bank account numbers, employee SSNs, full employee rosters, income details, or health records.
If I work with a PEO, do I lose control of my employees?
No. In a co-employment arrangement, the PEO may handle certain payroll, tax, benefits, and HR administration functions, but your business still controls hiring, firing, pay rates, and day-to-day work.
Can PEO Atlas guarantee pricing or savings?
No. Any cost ranges on the site are general examples, not quotes. Actual pricing depends on your headcount, services, state, and the provider's terms.
